Q. What if the package I want does not offer enough photography coverage hours? You may purchase as much additional time as you need. Our rate for this service is $250 per hour for 1 or 2 photographers when added before the day of the event. $300 if requested the day of event.
Q. How many photographers will be with us on our wedding day? There will be 2 photographers to document your entire wedding. Two photographers will allow us to spend time with both the bride and groom prior to the ceremony, and allows us to capture an additional angle of all of the important events. Occasionally, we will bring a 3rd photographer/assistant with us for large events or events that might require the need for help with gear, lighting, and managing groups for family formals.
Q. What is the best way to describe your style of photography? Our approach is very photo-journalistic, we try our best to remain unobtrusive in our coverage of your day. We like to combine both traditional and candid images while always on the lookout for that “genuine moment” to capture. We do believe that it is important to create beautiful, casually posed images of the bride and groom together. So while we won't stop you and make you pose while cutting the cake (maybe just after), we will ask you for about an hour or more if you can spare it, to spend with us sometime during the day to create some images of you without your wedding party or guests looking on. We also enjoy preserving all of the details of the wedding from your rings to your party favors, so you will find our work contains a great number of detail images. The images of the guests at the wedding are almost always completely photo-journalistic and we try not ask guests to stop what they are doing to make them pose for "table shots." Instead we prefer to capture them laughing, smiling, dancing, drinking, and having a good time. Q. What is the online proof gallery? The online gallery is where all of your wedding photographs are placed after hand-editing for you and your family and friends to view. It is a secure shopping cart as well which allow you, your family, and friends to order prints of your wedding from anywhere around the world.
Q. Do I get reprint rights to my images after the wedding? Yes! Our current collections include all of your wedding images edited and presented as High Resolution digital images. The time required to edit the images depends on the length of your wedding and the number of images being processed. (A typical wedding will produce about 100-200 images hour) The raw, unedited files are not available for viewing or purchase. The images selected for editing and final delivery reflect our extremely high standards and everything else isn't archived in the studio.
Q. What kind of equipment do you use? We use top of the line professional Nikon equipment. The latest flash equipment and full frame cameras with fast lenses.
Q. Do you carry backup equipment? In today's digital age carrying backup gear is more important than ever, we always carry extra gear to ensure that we are never out of action if something fails.
Q. Can our family and friends take pictures with their cameras? Yes, we are happy to have everyone join in on the fun! We do need space when we are photographing the family formals because we need all eyes facing the camera in your images and guests with cameras do become quite a distraction. But they can shoot away from the background as much as they like. We also request that they do not tag along for the bridal images or the images of the two of you alone for privacy and because we find they are too distracting at this time as well. During any and all of the events such as cake cutting and dancing we welcome cameras we just need enough space to insure we are able to capture the event unobstructed.
Q. Do you edit all of our photographs? Yes, every image will be hand-edited, one at a time. We do not batch them in large groups or use any mass-producing techniques to achieve the desired results. We often select a few favorites for special attention above and beyond the individual image editing. We color correct and adjust exposure, contrast, highlights and shadows. We also crop and add vivid color to make our images pop!
Q. Can we see the images that do not make the final cut? The only images that we remove from the final cut are images with eyes closed, flash didn't fire, person walking in front of the lens type of truly deserving images, if there are several images of the two of you laughing and having a great time together, we will include that set and only delete those that are exact duplicates. As we edit your images we are not throwing out images to bring them down to a specific number and images that are not selected are not archived at the studio.
Q. What are your travel fees? We do not charge any sort of travel fee for any wedding within lower Michigan. Weddings that are in the Upper Peninsula and/or Chicago will be required to pay an additional travel fee.
Q. What are your travel fees for destination weddings? Weddings that require us to fly to a specific destination require that the client pays for us to book a flight from Flint Metro Airport to the destination site, and a return flight to Flint Metro Airport. We also require transportation and lodging for 4 days while on location. These fees are in addition to the wedding package that you select. However, if your location were to be in Europe or any other fun exotic location we may consider the flight/travel/lodging as fair trade for our services.
Q. Can you hold a date for us? No, we can not hold the date or pencil you in. To be fair to everyone we do not "hold" a date without a retainer and a signed contract. We accept bookings on a first come/first served basis.
Q. How much is the retainer and when do we pay the remaining balance? A booking fee/retainer of $300 is due to reserve your date. The remainder is due 30 days before your wedding. We will set up a planning session right around that time, to make things easier for you. We will go over the final details of your day and take care of any remaining balance due at that time.
Q. If I need to cancel my wedding, is the retainer refundable? The retainer fee and all monies paid are non-refundable. The retainer guarantees that we will hold the date exclusively for you and once you have signed the contract we do turn down all other commissions for that date.
Q. If the event runs late and we need you to stay longer than scheduled, will you stay longer? Yes, we would be happy to accommodate your wishes. We do have an overtime rate and it goes into effect only with your permission and approval.
Q. Do we need to provide a meal for you at the reception? Yes, we would be extremely appreciative if you would provide us with a meal for any event lasting more than 4 hours. It is not necessary for it to be the same as your sit-down meal. A lot of caterers offer "vendor meals" as an add-on option. Having a moment to sit down for a couple of minutes to refuel and refresh ourselves is good for you and for us. It ensures we are able to stay happy, motivated, and that we won't faint from starvation. (ok Kimberly might faint, Jon on the other hand would be just fine) The best time for us to eat would be at the exact same time that you are. Mostly because you are not very photogenic while eating and when your done we want to be ready to continue your coverage.
Other Tidbits of Information: Jon and Kimberly offer military discounts for veterans or those who have spouses currently fighting for our country.
